Togo to host 1st Youth Climate Forum in Kara, May 29

The Togolese government, in collaboration with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the non-governmental organization Women Environmental Programme Togo (WEP-Togo) based in Lomé, is set to host the 1st International Youth Climate Forum, scheduled from 29 to 31 May 2023.

The program which will focus on Africa’s ecological transition, will take place in the municipality of Kara, located in northern Togo.

The forum aims to engage students, entrepreneurs, and youth associations from various African countries.

Under the theme “the role of youth in the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions in Togo,” participants will have three days to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and explore strategies for promoting environmental awareness and advancements.

The forum seeks to amplify the voices of young people, enabling them to address environmental concerns creatively and propose inclusive solutions to foster resilience.

Togo faces numerous climate-related challenges, including drought, intense and destructive rainfall, and coastal erosion, making the forum a crucial platform for discussions on these issues.
