Moroccan Minister of Trade and Manufacturing, Ryad Mezzour, inaugurated on Friday, a new high speed manufacturing line “Presse XL High Speed” in the Renault Group’s Tangier plant.
The cutting edge technology is considered the first of its kind to be used in vehicle manufacturing in Africa.
With the new line, the factory can stamp up to 21,000 metal sheets a day, which will greatly improve its productivity and allow for more opportunities for Morocco to strengthen its place in the automotive industry.
The line is used to stamp metal sheets that can be then used in critical components of cars’ bodies and doors.

The stamped metal pieces can also be then used in Renault’s factories worldwide.
“With the inauguration of the Press XL High Speed, we will continue to evolve our industrial tools towards more technologies and performance,” said Mohamed Bachiri, the general director of the Renault Tangier plant.
“This factory has become, thanks to the efforts of His Majesty the king, a leading industrial powerhouse of the world, from an environmental and technological standpoint,” Minister Mezzour said in an official video published by his department.
“This factory has also become a leading facility for the Renault group, and we are proud to see national innovation and leadership in it today,” he added.
