Heavy downpour in Abuja kills three, destroys properties

By Bisola Adeyemo

Flood killed three people, destroyed properties after heavy rainfall on Monday morning at Trademore estate in Lugbe, Abuja.

Recall that FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) early this month urged Abuja residents to stay alert to the floods predictions issued by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA).

Residents said the flood started in the early hours of Monday after a downpour. The estate witnesses such floods annually during the rainy season.

Many houses, vehicles and other properties were also rendered reckless by the flood.

Fire service and other safety officials from the Abuja administration were at the scene Monday morning when premium time visited.
