234 houses destroyed in Nasarawa over land dispute

Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State is in tension as youths from Giza in their numbers attacked and burnt down about 234 houses belongings to the Tiv extraction in that chiefdom over the land matter.

This has led to the prompt intervantion of men of the security operatives in that zone as the Tiv extraction within and outside the area were hurts by the youth of Giza town after the incident, a situation that has stopped the Tiv people for use of the road.

A resident that suffered the incident, Philip Nongu, told daily times that the traditional ruler of the area Sangerin Giza, Alhaji Umaru Abu ll, Chairman of Keana local government Adamu Adi, and his elder brother Dogara Adi, were said to be the brain bihand the fight between the Gwandaras and the Tiv in tha local government.

Mr. Nongu said that the Mornach and his cohorts collaborated to sized there ancestral farm land and sold to Alago from Doma local government area of the state, some to the Migiri and Eggon all in the state and share some amongst themselves.

He said the situation has prompted them to resist the attempt thereby resulting ina clash on the farm after which the youth from Giza town in their numbers armed with sophisticated weapons, dressed in army uniform and attacked 4 Tiv communities and set ablaze over 234 houses.

Nongu, who listed the affected settlements that were rendered homeless as Ajo 33 house, Ihwobo,107, Awarga, 45, Dogo, 32 and Kombu Agirigi 17 houses.
According to Nongu, the Tiv people have settled in the present Giza chiefdom just like other tribes.

History has it that the Tiv extraction arrived early 17th century before the Gwandaras, this is contained in
“Keana in perspective” a publication of a publicity committee on the coronation of late Osana of Keana, Emmanuel Elayo, as same is captured in the book during the coronation of present Osana of Keana Alhaji Amegwa Agbo Ii, he explained.

Meanwhile the chairman of Keana local government, Adamu Adi, admitted that there was cohesion in the local government but denied the attack on Tiv residents as alleged.
