208 million people using telephone in Nigeria — NCC

Nigeria now has 208 million using the telephone, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed on Thursday in Abuja.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof Umar Danbatta who revealed this said the nation’s broadband penetration also peaked at 45.07 percent as at November 2020.
He spoke during a load down of new developments in the telecommunications industry to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Festus Daudu.
The government also announced on Tuesday that a total of 47.8 million National Identity Numbers (NINs) had been collected by the mobile operators, adding that it hopes more NINs would be collected before the February 9 deadline.
Meanwhile, telephone subscribers have been advised to protect their SIM and their NIN.
