Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has allocated food items, housing units to 447 resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Dalori community, located in the Konduga Local Government Area of the state.
The distribution was carried out on Sunday where the beneficiaries were selected from two IDP camps in Dalori town.
The beneficiaries, who were displaced by Boko Haram insurgents, received essential humanitarian aid to facilitate their return home and self-reliance.
The governor said 447 households, totaling approximately 2,500 family members, received provisions including food items, mats, blankets, and clothing materials.
Governor Zulum affirmed his administration’s commitment to providing agricultural kits and entrepreneurship support to promote sustainable livelihoods among the returnees.
Emphasizing the importance of reintegrating IDPs into their communities, the governor had announced the closure of official IDP camps in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and its surroundings since 2023.
Restating his stance, he pledged to shut down all informal IDP camps in Maiduguri before May 29, underscoring the imperative for IDPs to contribute to the state’s development by becoming self-sufficient in their ancestral homes.
