Rotary International District 9111 has partnered with Rotary District 3750 to deliver a solar-powered clean water project to residents of Isan Community.
Implemented under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programme, the initiative provides safe drinking water to residents and schoolchildren in the riverine community, helping to reduce exposure to water-borne diseases and improve school attendance.
District Governor Henry Akinyele said the partnership, which began through a virtual WASH engagement, has grown into impactful community interventions, with plans for more global grant projects.
South Korean District Governor Moon Ok Kang said the project has improved living conditions in the community, noting that easier access to clean water has enhanced public health and supported children’s education.
Valued at about $38,500, the project runs on solar energy due to the absence of electricity in the area.
Rotary officials also disclosed plans to expand collaboration with healthcare-focused interventions
