Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending water scarcity across the state through sustained investment in water infrastructure and expanded access to potable water.
Speaking on Thursday while commissioning the Tsagero Small Town Water Supply Scheme in Rimi Local Government Area, Radda described access to clean water as essential for public health, economic growth and sustainable development.
He disclosed that 32 of the 66 Small Town Water Supply Schemes awarded by his administration have been completed and are either operational or ready for commissioning, with additional projects underway.
According to the governor, the Tsagero scheme will provide safe water to households, schools, healthcare facilities and businesses, while easing the burden of water collection, particularly for women and children.
Radda also highlighted ongoing interventions to improve water supply across the state, including the Zobe Water Supply Project, rehabilitation of key infrastructure, automation of Water Board operations and projects supported by the World Bank under the SURWASH and SPIN programmes.
He urged residents to protect and properly manage the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability.
