The President of the Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa (OTACCWA), Mr. Alexander Isong, has been appointed to the Council of the World Agriculture Forum (WAF).
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by OTACCWA last Wednesday in Lagos.
According to the organization, Isong was selected in recognition of his contributions to promoting zero post-harvest losses and strengthening cold-chain infrastructure in Nigeria and across West Africa.
The World Agriculture Forum, based in the Netherlands, is an international platform modeled after the World Economic Forum.
It brings together global leaders — including policymakers, business executives, agricultural experts, and development institutions — to tackle challenges related to food security, sustainable farming practices, agricultural innovation, and trade policy.
OTACCWA described the appointment as a significant milestone that highlights Isong’s visionary leadership and dedication to transforming agricultural logistics in the region.
The organization noted that his new role will help elevate Africa’s voice in global agricultural policy-making and discourse.
“As a Council Member, he will contribute to shaping the Forum’s agenda, promoting international cooperation, and championing strategic investments for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future,” the statement read.
OTACCWA, established to promote cold chain development in West Africa, reaffirmed its commitment to reducing post-harvest losses and advancing food preservation systems across the continent.
