Following the successful completion of the Technical Support Mission for the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project in Niger State, the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) has been identified as a potential model for other ACReSAL projects in the country.

The World Bank and the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) team, who conducted the week-long mission in Niger State, praised the SPMU for its performance and potential to serve as a benchmark for other states.

During the technical review sessions, Mr. Abdulhamid Umar, the National Project Coordinator (NPC) of ACReSAL Nigeria, emphasized the importance of aligning the project with its objectives and ensuring its sustainability. He highlighted the potential of SPMU Niger to become a model for other states’ ACReSAL projects, provided that the team works cohesively and implements the recommendations of the Support Mission.

The accolades continued as the Co-Task Team Leader (TTL), Manivel Sene, commended SPMU Niger for its performance and encouraged the team to build on their achievements by following the recommended action plans and implementation timelines provided during the sessions.

The Executive Governor of Niger State, represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Musa Bawa Bosso, expressed gratitude for the positive impact of the ACReSAL Project in redirecting the community’s focus towards sustainable agriculture.

In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator (SPC), Mr. Garba Usman Ibeto, thanked the World Bank Team and FPMU for the comprehensive technical session and expressed the SPMU’s willingness to serve as a case study for other SPMUs.

The final technical review session was attended by significant figures, including the Honorable Commissioner for Livestock, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Environment, and Directors from the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment & Climate Change, and Water Resources.
