Morocco will participate in the upcoming African Week at UNESCO scheduled for May 19–22, contributing to discussions and cultural activities centered on water access and sustainability.
Organized by the UNESCO Africa Group, this year’s event will focus on ensuring sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems in line with Agenda 2063.
The theme highlights increasing pressure on water resources across Africa and the urgency of long-term solutions.
Morocco’s permanent delegation confirmed its involvement in high-level panels and thematic sessions addressing water management, sanitation, and broader sustainability challenges.
The country will also engage in youth forums, exhibitions, and the African book fair to showcase its national initiatives.
In addition to policy discussions, Morocco will take part in cultural events, including artistic performances and a fashion show, reflecting a broader strategy to combine development issues with cultural expression.
According to UNESCO, the program will include conferences, civil society meetings, film screenings, gastronomy, and a gala event.
The annual African Week serves as a platform for member states to present both policy priorities and cultural identity, bringing together diplomats, researchers, artists, and students.
