Moni Pulo, Equitorial Guinea strike partnership on Gulf of Guinea Gas project

Indegenous oil and gas firm, Moni Pulo Limited (MPL), says it has agreed to enter into a strategic partnership in furtherance of the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline project, a landmark initiative connecting the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

A statement by Moni Pulo Limited Executive Chairman, Dr. (Mrs.) Seinye O. B. Lulu-Briggs, on Monday, said the development followed a highly productive engagement with the Vice President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, His Excellency, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue.

The Moni Pulo team also met with the leadership of EGLNG in Punta Europa, Malabo, where discussions advanced the framework for collaboration and implementation of the transformational regional energy infrastructure.

According to the statement, the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline project represents a consequential step in deepening energy cooperation across Africa. It reflects a shared commitment by governments and industry leaders to unlock stranded gas resources, expand monetization pathways, and strengthen the infrastructure required to support the continent’s industrial and economic growth.

“As one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous upstream oil and gas companies, Moni Pulo brings substantial technical capability and resource strength to this initiative, including certified proven gas reserves in excess of 1 trillion cubic feet. Our participation reflects both our strategic interest in the project and our confidence in its long-term significance for regional energy development and security,” the statement read in part..

It stated that for Moni Pulo, the project aligns with its conviction that Africa’s energy future will be shaped by disciplined resource development, regional integration, and strategic investments that create durable value across borders.

*We believe the project has the potential to materially enhance regional gas utilization, reinforce energy security, stimulate industrial expansion, and generate meaningful economic returns for participating nations and stakeholders alike,” the statement further read.

She commended the federal government and that of Equatorial Guinea, saying. “together with our strategic partners, regulatory authorities, and all institutional stakeholders whose vision, collaboration, and stewardship continue to advance this important initiative.”

The statement added that Moni Pulo remains fully committed to supporting the technical, commercial, and strategic work required to bring the project to fruition, “as we help redefine West and Central Africa’s gas landscape and contribute to a more integrated and prosperous African energy future.”
