Mauritania govt pins great hopes on COP27 in Egypt

Mauritanian Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk affirmed that his country pins great hopes on the upcoming climate conference (COP27) that Egypt will host in Sharm El Sheikh next November.

Speaking at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the minister said: “Mauritania has high hopes for the Climate Summit (COP-27) set to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt in November, and looks forward to the industrialized countries respecting their commitments to reduce emissions, as well as its commitments at the Paris summit.”

“Mauritania has focused on renewable energies, as the percentage of clean energy has reached 40% of the total energy we use, and efforts are continuing to raise this percentage to achieve the set goals,” the minister added.
