The Lagos Waste Management Authority has sealed several shops along the Tejuosho-Ojuelegba corridor for illegally dumping refuse on road medians, as it intensified enforcement of environmental sanitation laws across the state.
The enforcement operation, carried out on Sunday, involved LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement team, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), OP MESA personnel and the Nigeria Police.
LAWMA Managing Director, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the operation covered Modele, Fagbile and Maja streets, where businesses continued to violate sanitation regulations despite repeated warnings and public sensitisation.
He said the affected premises would remain sealed until they complied with the state’s environmental sanitation requirements.
Gbadegesin said the enforcement was aimed at restoring environmental order, protecting public infrastructure and ensuring compliance with waste management laws.
He urged residents and business owners to patronise their assigned Private Sector Participant waste operators, keep their surroundings clean and dispose of waste responsibly.
