Over 80 public service retirees in Lagos have begun a two-day training organised by the Office of the Head of Service to equip them with skills in biogas production, poultry, and rabbit farming.
Held at the Alausa Secretariat, the programme is designed to promote post-retirement self-reliance and improve the socio-economic well-being of retired officers.
Officials said the initiative is part of government efforts to support retirees with practical entrepreneurial skills that encourage productive ageing.
The Permanent Secretary, Public Service, Sunkanmi Oyegbola (represented by Bisi Rowland), described it as a life-changing intervention aimed at ensuring a dignified retirement.
Beneficiaries welcomed the training, saying it opened up new income opportunities, particularly in renewable energy and animal farming.
