The Lagos State Government has secured the conviction of two persons for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a post on X on Tuesday.
According to him, Ibrahim Kashua and Kareem Sodiq were arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Bolade Oshodi on Tuesday for illegal refuse dumping.
Wahab said both defendants pleaded guilty and were sentenced to three months imprisonment.
The conviction comes amid intensified enforcement against environmental violations across the state.
The government had earlier warned that offenders risk a N250,000 fine or up to three months imprisonment, noting that over 4,000 persons had already been prosecuted for illegal waste disposal in Lagos.
