The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged to address water scarcity across the state following an inspection tour of water treatment facilities.
The governor visited several plants, including the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant, to assess their condition and identify challenges affecting the supply of potable water to residents.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the inspection was part of efforts to improve access to safe and adequate drinking water in the state.
The governor was accompanied by commissioners and representatives of China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), a Chinese firm engaged to conduct feasibility studies and support solutions to the state’s water supply challenges.
During the visit, officials inspected treatment machines, pipelines, and other infrastructure, where issues such as pipe leakages, malfunctioning equipment, and obsolete machinery were identified.
Governor Yusuf said his administration would collaborate with CGC to rehabilitate and upgrade water facilities to improve service delivery across the state.
He reaffirmed that access to clean and safe drinking water remains a top priority of his government, adding that efforts would continue to ensure sustainable water supply for all residents.
