Jigawa partners with Indian poultry firm for agricultural growth

Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State met with a high-level delegation from Srinivasa Farms Pvt. Ltd., India, led by Vice President Mr. Senthil Kumar Krishnan, during a visit to the Government House in Dutse on April 13, 2026.

This visit is a follow-up to the state’s investment mission to India in May 2025, where discussions on potential agricultural collaborations, especially in poultry, were initiated.

The delegation is conducting a four-day technical assessment across various regions of the state, including Kazaure, Gumel, Hadejia, and Dutse.

The team will evaluate both private and state-owned poultry facilities, engage with local farmers, and explore plans for setting up a modern hatchery and poultry feed mill in Jigawa.

Governor Namadi stressed that the partnership would create significant economic opportunities, enhance food security, and generate employment, particularly for the youth.

He emphasized the importance of building a sustainable poultry value chain to boost the state’s economy and improve rural livelihoods.

This visit is the fourth by an Indian delegation to Jigawa following the 2025 mission. The governor highlighted other successes from that trip, such as collaborations with CornTech for seed production and Agrighar for dairy development.

Mr. Krishnan presented an overview of Srinivasa Farms, which has over 60 years of experience in the poultry industry. He expressed confidence in the potential for collaboration, noting the similarities between Jigawa’s agricultural conditions and those of India.

.

The partnership aims to support small and medium-scale farmers by providing access to quality chicks, affordable feed, veterinary services, and market opportunities, fostering more productive poultry enterprises.

The initiative will introduce modern poultry practices, improve biosecurity standards, and reduce losses in the supply chain, benefiting both local farmers and consumers.
