Hoodlums, traders clash, set market on fire in Lagos

A group of area boys has set the foodstuff market at Ile-Epo market, situated at Oke-Odo part of Alimosho Local Government Area, on fire over collecting from money won by a trader from betting.

According to few among petty traders in front of the gates that led into the market opposite Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, a trader was said to have won N13,000 yesterday but was given N11,000.

The cause of the breakdown of law and order by the hoodlums was because the trader was shortchanged with N2,000.

This morning, the tension aroused as a result of Wednesday’s conflict between the traders and the area boys who have reinforced more of their colleagues.

They looted a lot of shops, carted wy food items and valuables. Affected traders are by now counting their losses.

In the mean time, policemen from nearby Ile-Epo Police Station behind the market are on ground to control the breakdown of law and order.
