Health of mother earth foundation, HOMEF, has just concluded a one day training for farmers drawn from the North Central States of, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi and FCT.
The farmers were exposed to different methods of farming and planting.
Emphasis was laid on growth and development of subsistence farming to a more sustained one.
Many of the participants who were both men and women farmers were drawn from the participating states, were enthusiastic and feel fulfilled with the exposure given to them.
During the training which took place at Dama Musa Village of Kwali Area Council in FCT, the farmers had an opportunity to take a tour of an expansive farm land owned by SCL Farms, this led them with a wish of a possible expansion plan of their farming activities from subsistence activities to a commercial venture.
One of the farmers, who attended the training from Benue State, was full of appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the training.
In her words, “I thought the training I had in school about crop rotation wasn’t practicable until I got here, thanks to HOMEF”.
She promised to embark on an opportunity to explore a formidable trend to ensure her business grows.
Another participant noted that he will utilise the knowledge gained, to improve on his farming and crop production.
The training was emphatic on organic growth while deemphasizing the dependence on Genetically Modified Crops.
