FG Endorses LPV Technologies to Boost Local Renewable Energy Manufacturing and Jobs

By Abbas Nazil

The Federal Government of Nigeria has thrown its weight behind LPV Technologies, a Lagos-based solar panel manufacturer, in a bid to reduce capital flight and strengthen local capacity in the renewable energy sector.

The endorsement came during a recent visit by the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Abba Aliyu, to the company’s solar panel factory, where he commended LPV for its pivotal role in Nigeria’s clean energy transition and job creation efforts.

Aliyu praised LPV Technologies as one of the most efficient solar energy solution providers in the country, describing its operations as globally competitive while being fully rooted in Nigeria.

He highlighted the company’s contribution to reducing the nation’s dependence on imported renewable energy systems and pointed to its advanced traceability systems, which monitor solar panels from component sourcing to final assembly.

According to him, LPV’s products surpass many imported alternatives in quality and automation, marking them as competitive on the international stage.

The REA boss emphasized that Nigeria requires approximately \$410 billion to complete its energy transition and at least \$40 billion to bridge its electricity access gap.

In this context, he identified companies like LPV as essential to achieving national energy goals through localized and scalable solutions.

He expressed pride in LPV’s capability to manufacture solar panels that can stand side-by-side with any international brand, reinforcing the potential of Nigerian-made renewable technologies.

Aliyu further noted that although Nigeria is considered to have the greatest potential for distributed renewable energy, it only created 70,000 jobs in the sector last year compared to China’s 7 million.

With the global figure at 14 million, he urged stakeholders to leverage the country’s energy access challenges as a pathway to large-scale employment opportunities.

The visit also revealed ongoing partnerships between the REA and the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at solarizing police stations across the country.

This collaboration is being executed under a signed Memorandum of Understanding and will adhere to LPV’s production standards to guarantee product quality and implementation reliability.

Present at the event was the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, signifying broader multi-agency support for local renewable energy solutions.

Chairman of LPV Technologies, Mr. Nzan Ogbe, reiterated the importance of decentralized energy infrastructure in lowering power costs and increasing access. He committed to aligning with government strategies to build clean, easily deployable systems resilient to traditional grid challenges.

Ogbe added that LPV’s mission goes beyond production to include delivering affordable and scalable clean energy systems tailored to African realities, stressing that energy security and infrastructure adaptability are central to Africa’s development.
