FCTA Plans New Bus Terminals in Bwari, Gwagwalada

By Faridat Salifu

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is to construct new bus terminals in the Bwari and Gwagwalada area councils to improve transportation from satellite towns to the Abuja city centre.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike announced the plan on Saturday during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Bwari.

He said the terminals would help facilitate safe and convenient movement between the suburbs and major transit points in the city.

“We have agreed that we are going to construct one bus terminal in Gwagwalada and another in Bwari,” Wike said. “This will enable people to board a taxi or bus from Bwari down to the city—either to the Mabushi terminal, Kugbo terminal, or central area terminal. The same applies to Gwagwalada.”

He added that the move would improve public safety and reduce the risk of residents falling victim to criminal activity, particularly the so-called “one chance” robberies.

Wike also advised residents to avoid boarding vehicles by the roadside, urging them to make use of formal transport hubs once the new terminals are completed.
