Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has finalized preparations for the eighth edition of Cairo Water Week, set to run from October 12 to 16, 2025, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The event is a key global forum on water security and sustainable development, attracting policymakers, scientists, and experts worldwide.
Water Minister Hani Sweilem emphasized the government’s efforts to streamline participation and showcase the latest water innovations at the accompanying exhibition, which has already drawn 22 companies presenting advanced solutions in water management and climate adaptation.
The event will feature 125 sessions hosted by 95 international and regional organizations, including major meetings such as the World Water Council Board of Governors, the Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management assembly, and the Egypt-Netherlands Water Forum.
The 50th anniversary of UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme will also be celebrated.
Scientific activities include five sessions presenting 34 accepted research papers, plus a session displaying 15 scientific posters out of 203 submitted abstracts.
Competitions will highlight youth innovation, with participants from Egypt, China, and Kenya competing in the “Three-Minute Thesis” contest and graduation projects vying for the “Best Final Project” award.
Cairo Water Week 2025 aims to advance policy dialogue, research, and public-private partnerships in line with Egypt’s broader strategy to tackle water scarcity, climate change impacts, and transboundary water challenges.
