Commissioner for energy in Delta State, Chief Fred Obe, has advised Deltans and other individuals who are currently unserved or underserved by the availability of electricity to switch to solar energy in order to benefit from a consistent, economical, and clean energy source.
At Beebeejump Solar Energy’s flag-off ceremony yesterday, Obe made the statement.
The project, which is being carried out in partnership with the Delta State government, is part of the federal government’s ambition to install five million solar connections and aims to bring energy to the state’s underserved and unserved communities.
A “Solar-based alternative electrification programme was created to alleviate the obstacles experienced by the bulk of the people in accessing public power supply,” he stated.
Timmy Shi, general manager of Beebeejump Solar International Ltd, voiced concern about the difficulties Nigerians face in accessing power, noting that “nearly 92 million people in the country are still not connected to electricity.”
Shi, who also serves as the country sales director for the Chinese firm whose tagline is “Easy Life with Electricity,” claimed that Beebeejump was prepared to help Nigeria with its energy issues by offering an alternative to the country’s current electricity source.
Shi stated: “Solar is less expensive,…hence it is the best alternative answer to electricity,” when describing the value of solar energy and its application.
The Country Director, Mr. John ESO Imeme, added that over 800,000 solar boxes, including those in Delta State, had been placed nationwide to boost the nation’s economy.
Imeme claims that Beebeejump Company is prepared to provide low-income residents with solar lights and other high-quality items that are more affordable for everyone.
