Axxela Limited, a leading gas and power portfolio company in sub-Saharan Africa, has been recognized for its significant contributions to Nigeria’s energy transition and promotion of sustainable energy access for industrial development.
The company was named the Winner of the Carbon Reduction & Clean Energy Leader of the Year and secured the Runner-Up position for Most Sustainable Company of the Year at the 2025 Social Impact and Sustainability Awards organized by CSR Reporters.
According to Axxela, the expansion of its natural gas infrastructure and the delivery of cleaner energy solutions to over 200 industrial customers led to a reduction of more than 703,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions within a single year.
The company also holds an EcoVadis Gold Rating, placing it among the top five percent of companies globally assessed for environmental, social, and governance performance.
This rating reflects Axxela’s sustained efforts to transition industrial operations from heavy fuels to cleaner energy alternatives while promoting responsible industrial practices across Nigeria.
Commenting on the awards, Axxela’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Ononiwu, stated that the recognition validates the company’s long-term vision for sustainability and cleaner energy delivery.
He emphasized that Axxela remains committed to expanding its impact across Nigeria’s industrial sector and accelerating the country’s low-carbon transition.
Ononiwu added that the company’s approach to sustainability is practical, intentional, and deeply integrated into the way it serves diverse industrial customers.
The Director of Corporate Operations at Axxela, Tuoyo Ejueyitchie, noted that the company is proud that its sustainability and ESG strategies are producing measurable results.
Ejueyitchie highlighted that true operational excellence for Axxela involves delivering value responsibly, balancing environmental stewardship, social impact, and sound governance to ensure long-term sustainability for stakeholders.
