The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has donated a fully completed administrative block valued at ₦250 million to Al-Qalam University’s College of Allied Health Sciences in Katsina.
The donation, made under ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grant Scheme (TEGS), was officially commissioned during a ceremony held in Katsina State.
The new building includes fully furnished offices for academic and administrative staff, along with two conference halls. It will support the university’s expansion into health-related degree programs such as Nursing Science, Public Health, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Optometry, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
ASR Africa Managing Director, Dr. Ubon Udoh, credited the successful delivery of the project to the close collaboration between ASR Africa and the university’s project management team.
He urged the university community to ensure proper use of the facility.
Vice Chancellor of Al-Qalam University, Prof. Nasiru Musa Yauri, expressed gratitude to ASR Africa and emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility. He revealed that the university has formalized partnerships with healthcare institutions across Katsina to support student clinical training.
Representing the Governor of Katsina State, Secretary to the Government Abdullahi Faskari commended the Chairman of ASR Africa, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, for the investment, noting the administration’s focus on improving education.
This project is part of ASR Africa’s broader effort to bridge infrastructure gaps in tertiary institutions across Africa. Since its launch in 2021, ASR Africa has awarded grants between ₦250 million and ₦2 billion to 30 institutions across the continent.
