Transport Minister to raise 1,657km rail project to int’l standards

In a recent statement released in Abuja on Monday, November 20, the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, has provided a strong assurance that the 1,657km rail project will be elevated to international standards, ensuring seamless and enjoyable access to trade for Nigerians.
The statement, signed by the Special Assistant of Public Affairs, highlighted the Minister’s commitment to completing and initiating full operations of the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail network for the benefit of the Nigerian populace.
Alkali emphasized that this development would not only enhance trade opportunities but also provide expanded access to markets and contribute to the growth of agricultural production.
Alkali stated, “The Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail project is a sign of commitment to improving and boosting infrastructural development and economic growth. Cutting across 13 states: Rivers, Abia, Enugu, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi, and Adamawa, it will unlock unprecedented benefits.”
The Minister underscored the significance of the rail project, stating that it goes beyond transportation; it is about the movement of goods, people, and opportunities. The project is a pivotal step towards connecting Nigeria and fostering economic growth.
