The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has announced that 5,000 youths drawn from six states will benefit from their empowerment programme.

The beneficiaries were drawn from Plateau, Kebbi, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and Benue states.

The beneficiaries will receive vocational and technical training on; fish and poultry farming, agricultural enterprise, Hairdressing, Barbing saloon, Catering and culinary services, Music and Entertainment Components, Events Management and Decoration, Fashion Design and Tailoring.

Speaking at the flag-off which took place at the Idris Legbo Kutigi international conference centre, Minna, the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), Boss Mustapha commended HYPPADEC for the initiative aimed at complimenting the federal government’s empowerment of jobless Nigerians.

Boss Mustapha who spoke through the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, said governments at all levels have no choice but to invest in Nigerian youths as future leaders without whom the future of Nigeria cannot be guaranteed.

In a remark, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, represented by his Deputy, Ahmed Mohammad Ketso said the programme is coming at a good time and would contribute towards keeping youths away from social ills ahead of the 2023 general elections.
